I’m catching a bit of flack for not being excited about Pinterest, but I did make a profile. My biggest issue is not with the site itself, but rather the fact that people are comparing it to Facebook and Twitter. Even if it is the next big thing, it is way too soon to put it on that level. It could have staying power, but everyone in the social media industry said the same thing about Quora too.
Right now I’m building an archive of infographics on Pinterest to try it out. The SEO and social media communities are excited about the marketing and link building potential, but now we are learning that most Pinterest links are no follow diminishing the SEO value. This is the major reason I’m giving it a shot, but so far all I’ve seen are recipes and home decoration ideas…
