The New Myspace Is Back To Take On Other Social Media Networks

There has been substantial buzz around a relaunch of the social network this fall. On Sept 24th news media outlets began sharing a teaser video from Myspace promoting this revamp. The network will still have a heavy focus on music, but profiles will also share commonalities with Facebook, tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and your average wordpress blog. In the demo video you will see a very different user experience then the 2003 and 2008 versions of the network. The changes are significant and truly differentiate the network from the rest. Although profiles are uniquely customizable, they are configured with a template format and the profiles are limited enough to avoid the long load times that plagued the original version.

As Facebook took over and Myspace lost the public’s interest, I deleted my original profile. I recently created a new one with hopes of playing with the new version, but at the moment it is limited to those with invites.
